My Parents Were “Creatives” Before Nouning Adjectives Was Cool

Me. “Mom, how did I get the name ‘Aragon’?”

That’s me in a nutshell. I’m gruff, cynical, hopeful, creative, bored. I’m a husband and father. I’m attracted to mechanical things. I collect watches, cameras, and guitars. I both love and loathe film photography in that most basic it’s not you, it’s me kinda way (read: I’d love to tell film to jump in a lake, but I’d go rescue it, let it dry, and shoot it to see the results)

Harnessing Synergistic Resources for Brand Value

I’ve spent the last two years wallowing in self-pity, not making photos, being a grumpy curmudgeon, and swimming in unproductivity like a champ. So this winter there was an internal call to my brain that said "it’s time to get back into what you love.” Well, what do I love ? Photography! All kinds. Unlike Mikey from Life cereal, give me just about any camera and I’ll like it. I also very much love writing. I’m not a wordsmith, but I’ll get better the more I do it!

Phosfluorescently Architecting Open-Source Technologies

I’m a Gen-Xer. Social Media and I are not friends. I have discovered a side of myself that is neither friendly nor healthy, and it doesn’t reflect my love of God and others. I’ve followed folks from all sides of the insert polarizing subject spectrum on Substack and really respect the fact that we can have differences without being cancelled. This doesn’t mean I will post anything political. I have no love of politics, and I have no desire to foist my politics on any reader. I will never post poltical content here. But I do respect Substack for giving everyone an equal platform for speech, and I want to be part of this.

Competently Disseminating Web-Enabled Potentialities

I’ve had Aragon’s Eye for a few years, now, and hosted it with multiple services. The current service I have is great, but I don’t really dig the way I have to create new content. It’s almost annoying. Yes, this is my personal feeling. Your mileage may vary. Substack is much easier for me. I just start typing and here it is.

You’ll see content here that I would normally post at aragonseye.com/aragons-eye. The difference is that this is a newsletter, too! You can also expect it to always be free. I think it’s perfectly reasonable for creators to charge for their content. I pay for subscriptions here, too. We’ve had 30 years of “it’s free on the Internet” and I’m glad to see that people are both eschewing this idea of the free blog, and also shedding their bad habit of only consuming what’s free. If you have the money to devote to a cup of coffee every day, you can certainly support some of the amazing content creators on Substack and other platforms. God has been great to me. I don’t need anything (except an audience!) so this content is free. If you ever feel the need to pay for my content, just hit me up when you’re in Memphis and we’ll grab coffee and talk photography!
